DeFi annoys trackers for one reason: a single deposit shows up as several rows. A Uniswap pool is two assets, a position NFT and an extra receipt in the wallet. Meteora on Solana is a position inside a program that a plain token list cannot see. Add all of it up and you are richer on screen than in life.
Where the double count comes from
The wallet balance source often returns the token the protocol uses to mark a deposit. The DeFi source returns the position itself: how much liquidity, how much in rewards.
These are not two deposits. This is one deposit photographed from two angles. The rule is simple: the total takes the maximum of the two valuations, not their sum. The receipt is better hidden from the coin table — it gets in the way when you are looking for something you can actually spend.
A position has to be one line
Concentrated liquidity arrives as three or four rows for a single NFT: two legs, fees, sometimes a reward on top. A human needs one card: protocol, pair, value, what has accrued so far.
If the tracker shows four rows with no grouping, that is not "detail", that is unreadable. In Crypto360 those pieces collapse into one position.
Chains that a plain balance call cannot see
On EVM you can still pull DeFi through position indexers. On Solana and Sui that does not work: you need the pool program and tick math. If your only source is about tokens, Meteora and Momentum quietly become zero. To a human that looks like "my money disappeared". To the tracker it is "we never asked the program".
It is worth checking specifically whether your tracker has actual positions and not just a coin list. Otherwise you are counting DeFi in your head off a screenshot of the protocol.
Rewards: accrued and claimed
Another trap is "how much did I earn". What accrued inside the position and what you already claimed to the wallet are different things. What you claimed is sitting there as an ordinary token. Add it to the position again and you are double-counting again.
Watch two numbers: the value of the position now and what you actually claimed over the period. You cannot blend them into one "yield" unless you want a bedtime story.
How this sits inside the portfolio total is covered in the piece about every digital asset. Try it on your own addresses: Crypto360.
